frolicingintheforest:

Every time I look at this picture, I bust out laughing. hahaha.
So, here’s what happened. I was an idiot, and thought I’d be cute, and wear some “new” vintage Dr. Marten boots on a seven mile hike. They are super comfortable, and I thought I wouldn’t have any problems out of them. Okay, so not even a mile into the trail, something terrible was going on with my heels. We were walking straight up a mountainside, and the boots are a little too big, I wore short socks, and something inside the boot was putting me through some major torment. It got so bad that I had to take them off. I had MASSIVE blisters on each heel, worst I’ve ever had… and SUPER painful. I decided I’d just wear my socks. Going barefoot was out of the question with the time I had to complete the hike, and the terrain. A little further on, the trail turned into a rocky mess, after getting spiked a couple times, I started thinking of ways to make this a little easier for me. Then I got a great idea. MOSS. I collected up some moss along the way, and put it inside my socks! It felt like walking on clouds! It honestly saved me, because we didn’t have time to waste, with such a long trail, and darkness coming soon. I thank the forest for getting me comfortably through a rough situation! (:

But, the moss just looked soo dumb in my sock… it was all wadded up, and lumps coming out the sides. One sock looked like a clown shoe… and had more moss than toe in the front (walking miles on moss, it gets pushed all kinds of ways!) Ever time I looked down, I started dying laughing. I bet Devin go so sick my uncontrollable laughter. hhahaha This picture does it no justice, but it was the stupidest looking thing I’ve ever saw.

I returned the moss to grow in the forest… since it got broken up, it will cover a much larger area than it’s original size! I would have been in a mess if it weren’t for that moss! I’m so very thankful for the comfortable (amazing actually) hike! (:
